I expanded your article on Rajaji a bit, hope I got it right. Just to let you know, I'll update Viceroy of India, and create an article for Governor-General of India. Before Viceroy this office was filled, and technically the Viceroy was governor general. I came through the backdoor, since I'm trying to update the article on Charles Cornwallis. Regards ... Hi... just wondering where you got Image:India collage.jpg from, and what the copyright status of it is... Graft 04:19, 29 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Bhagwan Das is shortly up for deletion -- I will turn it into a stub instead of deleting it. Maybe you can give it some attention, if you like. I also commented on the FDL issue on that talk page. -- Be well, 戴&#30505sv 20:02, Aug 7, 2003 (UTC)

Kaysov, with ref. to your mail, I won't be writing anything on Indian economic reforms, but I plan to have a page on the Indian_IT_industry.

Regarding your addition of Indians and Pakistanis in Lightbulb joke, can you show who has used the joke or where it has been used. Jay 15:17, 28 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Kaysov, do you ever check your Talk page. I made two comments on this page (August and Sep) and never got a response. Jay 06:31, 16 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Hi Kaysov,

I still feel there is so much more to add about Rajaji. I will be adding a few things soon. Please review the contents at leisure and feel free to suggest/make any changes. chance 06:49, Dec 22, 2003 (UTC)

Hi. Please check the copyright status of the pics you upload. Is the photo of Sathya Sai Baba in public domain or do you have the legal permission to publish it under GFDL? Optim 17:08, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I dont think pictures of Sathya Sai Baba are locked under copyrights. Will anyway check it. Kesava 05:00, 31 Jan 2004 (UTC)

This image has been taken from http://acharya.iitm.ac.in/cgi-bin/script_disp.pl?telugu. Kaysov, did you get permission for this? -- Paddu 14:56, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I probably made a mistake by assuming that IIT will not lock it in copyrights. Please feel free to remove if you think that i dont have permission. - Kesava 0500, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)
I don't know if we could get permission, but it certainly is a mistake to assume anything like that, since (I hear) when there is no copyright notice it should be assumed that we have no permissions. I think most content from IITM websites are allowed to be used "only for non-commercial purposes", which would contradict the GFDL. I am removing it from Telugu language. BTW you could contact the email address given in http://acharya.iitm.ac.in/. -- Paddu 07:01, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Auto

[edit]
  • Hey, Auto Rickshaw is fantastic. I can already seeing it make it to Wikipedia: Brilliant Prose soon. W2G. Will try and see if I can do something more to the article Chancemill 08:39, Apr 16, 2004 (UTC)
    • ThanQ. I proceeded with the assumption that the complex web of Indian life can only be told by writing about things like Auto rickshaw. Planning to extend the same kind of style to Tea stall. Your comments/feedback would be extremely helpful. - Kesava 10:57, Apr 16, 2004 (UTC).
  • I think auto rickshaws already have a sufficient content. Just added the tuk tuk part. Nichalp 19:56, Apr 17, 2004 (UTC)
  • Good subject matter, interesting info!! Have read it only superficially. Right now each Indian Wikipedian seems to have fun adding the bit they know:-)) So probably after all the bits are added, it needs to give a more coherent reading experience. KRS 15:58, 24 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, but I deleted the Telugu ref. from the Forrest Gump article: Groom wrote the novel in 1984-85, and thus couldn't have based Gump on Rare Pearl. DS 11:15, 10 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

The chances that a Telugu movie is based on novel by a little obscure Groom are very less. All I can think of is a serendipitous coincidence. - Kesava 02:51, 11 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Mughal-e-azam

[edit]

I noticed that we had articles on this film under both the above name, and using the different case Mughal-e-Azam. I've tried to merge the two under the latter name (because it was the older and longer article), with a redirect from the former name. Please check whether my merge makes sufficient sense. -gadfium 03:33, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Hi, Kaysov, I was wondering if you had some more information on the fantastic picture Image:Auto-ricksaw.jpg - do you know where and when it was taken? I added the "Advaita" in

because there was no classification of the statement. But I picked this information off the web -- please correct it if inaccurate. dab 18:18, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Articles without contents

[edit]

Please don't create article which just contain the category this article should be belong to. Every article here needs to be at least a stub, as otherwise the fact that the article still needs to be written isn't visible anymore. The red links are nothing bad, but a blue link pointing to nothing is bad. If you want to create a kind of to-do list for that category, simply write the missing articles in the category article itself. See e.g. Category:Airports of Thailand. andy 08:22, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:NatarajaMET.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. Please go to its page to provide the necessary information on the source or licensing of this image (if you have any), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Hey Kaysov, I see you want to release the image under a Creative Commons license. Can you tell me which one in particular so I can add the appropriate tag? There are three general licenses:

  • Attribution, allows the image to be freely used as long as you are credited.
  • ShareAlike, allows the image to be freely used as long as derivatives are shared as well.
  • Attribution-ShareAlike, combines the two first ones.

Let me know when you get a chance! :) --Foofy 19:43, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I asume you are the one who made this image so I went ahead and tagged it as GFDL-presumed, please check to make sure this is correct and replace the tag with GFDL-self or whatever license is apropriate. --Sherool (talk) 15:55, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:SV Temple PA.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Thanks for uploading Image:ApsaraMET.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 01:38, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While the source info is good, you need to specify a license such as GFDL or CC also. Stan 04:57, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:HinduPraying.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HinduPraying.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- — Indon (reply) — 16:57, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New page monitoring

Special:Log/newpages is a good start :). Use db-criteria for speedy deletable pages. Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 15:34, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You asked about stubs. A stub tag puts a page into a category. People can and do look through those categories to find stubs, msotly so that they can woprk on and expand them. The diffferent stub tags put articles into different categories. See Wikipedia:stub and the list of stub types for more information. DES (talk) 17:57, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do nothing special. Just check the Special:Log/newpages for additions and read them.  :-) Coren 00:41, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see I'm not the only one asked here about new page monitoring. I agree that Special:Log/newpages is a good log, although I personally use the recent contributions page for newbies, in the article namespace since that also shows me other vandalism, and is where >95% of inappropriate pages come from. On the other hand, both of those links will also contain legitimate edits. By the way, in the future, if you have a question, I recommend you ask it at the Help desk or on a user's talk page rather than emailing users. Often, you'll get a faster answer on the Help desk, and a more reliable response from user talk pages. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 18:34, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Ms subbulakshmi.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ms subbulakshmi.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:IndianPowerCrisis.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 04:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BITS-Pilani-Logo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:08, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Orphaned non-free media (Image:P&glogo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:P&glogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image:NormanRockwellUN.jpg

[edit]

I have tagged Image:NormanRockwellUN.jpg as orphaned fairuse. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add not orphan to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Calliopejen1 (talk) 17:32, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Civilian awards in India requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 00:27, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the prod template to the article TripTik, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of TripTik

[edit]

An editor has nominated TripTik, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TripTik and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:59, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:NTR-characters.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:NTR-characters.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:34, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ustad Allah Rakha (sarangi), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Allah Rakha. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 17:59, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Please don't move a page by cutting and pasting its content. Doing so destroys the page edit history and causes copyright infringement (GFDL violations). GFDL requires acknowledgement of all contributors; so it is required that edit histories be preserved for all edits to an article. For this article, I have done a history merge, so there is no longer any trouble now. :) Anyway, please be more careful and use the "move" button next time. :) (More information available at Help:Moving a page!) Proposed deletion of Budugu

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Budugu, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Does not include any evidence of notability or importance. No references or external links offered.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. magnius (talk) 15:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Auto stand chennai.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Auto stand chennai.jpg, which you've attributed to http://puggy.symonds.net/~suraj/photos/chennai/semi_autos. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as non-free fair use or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ITN recognition for S. P. Balasubrahmanyam

[edit]

On 25 September 2020, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, which you created. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. SpencerT•C 16:36, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Kuchibhotla Sivarama Krishnayya, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Information icon Hello, Kaysov. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Kuchibhotla Sivarama Krishnayya, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.

If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted so you can continue working on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 20:04, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kaysov. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Kuchibhotla Sivarama Krishnayya".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 22:45, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
